Tory Lanez receives new sentencing date of August 7
Tory Lanez’s sentencing gets postponed to August 7
On Tuesday, Tory Lanez was supposed to find out his fate, regarding how long he would be sentenced to serve time in prison, regarding his Megan Thee Stallion shooting case. However, this resulted in another new date being scheduled, according to legal reporter Meghann Cuniff.
As a result, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David Herriford ruled that Tory’s new sentencing date is now scheduled for August 7. Furthermore, prosecutors in the case are still hoping for the Toronto rapper to be sentenced to 13 years. The maximum time Tory is facing is 22 years and eight months.
“Judge Herriford scheduled it moments ago,” Legal affairs journalist Meghann Cuniff reported on Twitter, Tuesday. “Lanez appeared in court briefly, wearing orange jail garb and a black cap. His lawyers’ sentencing recommendation is due Aug. 1. Prosecutors want 13 years.”
Tory was initially found guilty of three felonies, at his trial back in December. This comes after waiting for his fate since 2020, as he was found guilty of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. Tory has since gone on to accuse the judge and prosecution of bias and racism against him.
