Nahla Aubry Defends Halle Berry Amid Abuse Allegations
Halle Berry’s 18-year-old daughter, Nahla Aubry, has spoken out to defend her mother against recent child abuse allegations. The public statement comes as the actress navigates a contentious legal battle with her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez, who has filed for sole custody of their 13-year-old son, Maceo, citing claims of physical abuse. Berry has vehemently denied these accusations, maintaining that she is a victim of domestic violence herself.
“I never observed anything abusive about her parenting,” Nahla wrote in a statement. She described her mother as a “loving and devoted parent” who is “warm, supportive, and deeply involved” in her children’s lives. While acknowledging that Berry can be strict when necessary, Nahla emphasized that these expectations are rooted in a desire for her children to be respectful and follow house rules.
Addressing the specific claims regarding her younger brother, Nahla stated, “I have never seen my mom hit, slap, choke, grab, or physically abuse Maceo in any way. And I have never seen my mom place her hands around Maceo’s neck, put him in a chokehold, restrict his breathing, or engage in any conduct remotely resembling the allegations that have been made against her.”
Nahla, who has lived with Maceo for the majority of his life, noted that Berry has consistently prioritized their well-being, even after her separation from Martinez. She highlighted how her mother actively managed their schedules to ensure quality time, attended school events, and advocated for Maceo’s educational and medical needs. “She celebrates our successes, supports us through challenges, and is always there when we need her,” Nahla added. “I never doubted my mom’s love for me. She consistently provided me with stability, support, guidance, and unconditional love.”
Currently, Berry is petitioning the court to restore her original 50/50 custody agreement for Maceo. Her filing also requests the reinstatement of her tie-breaking authority and mandates that Martinez attend court-ordered therapy. According to the legal documents, Berry alleges that Martinez’s personal grievances against her have negatively influenced his relationship with their son. She claims that his attempts to align Maceo against her have caused unnecessary conflict, stating, “The fourth concern is Olivier’s continued attempts to align Maceo with him and against me in many areas of our child’s life.”
