This Week in Streets Talkin News: Lady Gaga, Coronavirus
Plus, the latest on Meghan Thee Stallion, Katy Perry & more.
Welcome to the This Week in Streets Talkin News podcast, where Jordyn Rolling, Streets Talkin News host and producer, and Gary Trust, Streets Talkin senior director of charts, dive into the week’s biggest music news stories.
This week, Jordyn and Gary cover how, as the coronavirus (COVID-19) spreads globally, previously scheduled live music events continue to be postponed or cancelled. Artists including BTS, Mariah Carey and Maluma have either rescheduled concerts or cancelled them, and Ultra Music Festival, which was set for March 20-22 in Miami, was cancelled for the first time in the festival’s 21 years. Conversely, SXSW is currently scheduled to take place as planned March 13-22 in Austin, Texas.
As for Coachella, scheduled to begin its two-weekend run April 10 in Indio, California? Dave Brooks, Streets Talkin senior director of touring/live entertainment, joins the podcast, musing, “I think they’re going to hold out … to see how the situation develops.”
Jordyn and Gary go on to discuss Lady Gaga‘s new single, “Stupid Love”; Megan Thee Stallion‘s legal battles with her record label; Katy Perry’s reported pregnancy; Drake’s two new songs; Jennifer Lopez’s sitdown with Oprah Winfrey; and more.
Plus, get up to date on all things Streets Talkin charts, including BTS’ No. 1 blastoff on the Streets Talkin 200 with Map of the Soul: 7; Jimmie Allen’s special week, both on Country Airplay and at home; and projections for Lil Baby and Bad Bunny‘s new albums on next week’s Streets Talkin 200.
