Legendary R&B group Xscape has gained several new awards from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Their 1993 debut single, “Just Kickin’ It,” has topped the 2x multi-platinum mark with more than two million equivalent units sold. It’s their biggest-selling single to date.

“Just Kickin’ It,” lifted from their debut album Hummin’ Comin’ at ‘Cha, reached No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart (previously known as Hot R&B Singles chart) in October 1993. It also peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

“Understanding,” also taken from Xscape’s first album, is now certified platinum. The song stayed at No. 1 for two weeks on the Hot R&B Singles chart, beginning the week of Feb. 12, 1994. It also went to No. 8 on the Hot 100 chart.

Xscape gained another platinum award. “Who Can I Run To,” a faithful cover of a Jones Girls classic, has reached one million equivalent units.

“Who Can I Run To” had a week at No. 1 on the R&B chart in November 1995. That month, it peaked at No. 8 on the Hot 100 chart. The song appears on their sophomore album, Off The Hook, released in 1995.

Xscape’s other new RIAA awards include “My Little Secret” (gold) and “Do You Want To” (gold). Both tracks have moved more than 500,000 equivalent units.

“My Little Secret,” lifted from their third album, Traces of My Lipstick, reached No. 9 on the Hot 100 chart. Meanwhile, “Do You Want To” is a top 30 single on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.

Xscape’s new certification comes amid their new reality show, SWV & Xscape: The Queens of R&B, airing on Bravo. The six-episode limited series follows the women of the legendary R&B groups as they come together to give fans a special one-night-only concert.

Last November, Xscape received the Lady of Soul Award at the 2022 Soul Train Awards. They performed a career-spanning medley.

Solo music aside, LaTocha recently released a new gospel single, “Stay With Me.” The song will appear on her first gospel album, The Invitation: A Conversation With God, which releases April 7 via Motown Gospel/Capitol CMG.
