The Game Loses Appeal in Long-Standing Sexual Assault Case

The Game might have recently captured attention with his latest album release, but the rapper is now facing a significant legal blow. A California appeals court has officially rejected his appeal in a long-standing sexual assault case, leaving him responsible for a substantial financial judgment.

The legal battle dates back to 2015, when Priscilla Rainey successfully sued the artist after he was found liable for sexual battery. The incident, which took place during the production of the VH1 reality series She’s Got Game, resulted in a court-ordered award of USD 1.3 million in compensatory damages and USD 6 million in punitive damages. Despite the total judgment of USD 7.3 million, the survivor has struggled to collect the full amount over the past decade.

Legal Setback and Financial Implications

In his most recent attempt to overturn the ruling, The Game argued that the court’s order for publication was not properly mailed to his known address and cited alleged errors in the summons. However, the appeals court dismissed these claims, ruling that the summons was fully compliant with state law and that there was no legal requirement to mail the order for publication in the manner the rapper suggested.

As of a 2021 follow-up lawsuit, the outstanding balance owed to Rainey remained at approximately USD 6.8 million. This latest court decision reinforces the original verdict, marking a definitive end to this specific avenue of appeal for the artist.
