Spotify Celebrates 20th Anniversary with All-Time Streaming Data
Spotify is celebrating its 20th birthday today, April 23, and to commemorate two decades of changing the way the world consumes audio, the platform has released a comprehensive look at its most-streamed content. For the first time, the streaming giant has unveiled the definitive lists of the most-streamed artists, albums, songs, podcasts, and audiobooks in its history.
“Drawn from years of listening across hundreds of millions of fans, these lists capture the music and stories that didn’t just break through but stayed, becoming part of everyday life around the world,” the company stated. The data reflects listening habits since the platform’s inception, capturing trends up to April 2026.
The Most Streamed Artists and Albums
The rankings confirm the massive global impact of several contemporary superstars. Taylor Swift has been crowned the most-streamed artist of all time on the platform, followed by Bad Bunny and Drake. The dominance of these artists highlights the shift in global listening habits over the last decade.
In the albums category, Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti holds the top spot, cementing its status as a modern classic. The list also features heavy hitters like The Weeknd, whose album Starboy ranks second, and Ed Sheeran, whose ÷ (Deluxe) sits at number three.
Top Songs and Cultural Impact
When it comes to individual tracks, The Weeknd’s 2020 smash hit “Blinding Lights” takes the crown as the most-streamed song in Spotify history. The list of top songs also includes global staples such as Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” and The Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather,” proving that certain tracks have maintained consistent popularity throughout the platform’s growth.
Beyond music, the report highlights the massive expansion of the platform into spoken-word content. The Joe Rogan Experience leads the list of most-streamed podcasts, while Sarah J. Maas’s A Court of Thorns and Roses tops the list for audiobooks in Premium, showcasing the platform’s successful diversification into a multi-format audio destination.
