Silk Sonic Announces Release Date for Debut Album
Silk Sonic has finally announced a release date for their highly awaited debut album, An Evening with Silk Sonic. It will arrive on November 12, via Aftermath Entertainment/Atlantic Records.
The duo, composed of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, was initially planning to release the album in January 2022, according to an interview with Rolling Stone.
“We’re really in touch-up mode now,†Mars said. “We’ve got the bones of most of the album, so it’s really about touching up parts that need a little more…. grease.†Paak added, “Which could mean redoing the song from scratch!â€
An Evening with Silk Sonic will feature an appearance from the legendary Bootsy Collins. The nine-track LP will include Silk Sonic’s smash hit “Leave The Door Open,†which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as their latest single “Skate.†Both songs were produced by Grammy and Oscar winner D’Mile.
In an interview with Rated R&B, D’Mile shared the process of creating “Leave The Door Open.â€
He shared, “We were playing around with different things and we kind of just gravitated to that sound. The ‘70s again, which is something that [Bruno Mars] wanted to do. It wasn’t necessarily me saying, ‘We should go here’ or anything like that. I don’t really like listening to anything else for inspiration. I think it kind of just happened, especially when [Anderson .Paak] came along and got involved. It just turned into what it became. I think just the vibe of us in the room, it was just screaming what the end result became to be.â€
The album is available for pre-order now.
