BET Networks and Blue Butterfly have shared the first trailer for The Wine Down with Mary J. Blige, the upcoming non-scripted series for BET.

In it, Blige trades in her entertainer status to introduce herself as a friend and host. Over a glass of Sun Goddess, her premium wine collection, Blige enjoys laughs and hugs and has candid conversations with industry friends, including 50 Cent, Taraji P. Henson and Yung Miami of City Girls.

As the series unfolds, more guests in entertainment, sports, social media, and politics will be announced.

The Wine Down with Mary J. Blige is the result of Blige’s first-look deal with BET in partnership with her production company, Blue Butterfly, to create non-scripted programming. The deal and its second-look contract, aimed at scripted content, were first announced in December 2022.

Of the deal, Blige said, “BET has been one of my biggest supporters throughout my career. Being able to now create together, for them to be so supportive of my vision for the type of content I will create, is something I am grateful and excited for. We already have multiple projects in the works and there is much more to come.”

BET’s Executive Vice President of Specials, Music programming & Music strategy, Connie Orlando, added, “Throughout her legendary career, Mary has blazed trails to become a global superstar. With Blue Butterfly, Mary develops awe-inspiring stories of the Black experience while uniquely using music to set the foundation. Mary has been a vital part of the BET family and we are eager to see our partnership flourish through this partnership.”

The Wine Down with Mary J. Blige airs March 1 at 10 p.m. ET on BET and BET Her.
