Leela James Announces New Album ‘See Me,’ Shares New Song ‘Put It On Me’

Every good breakup story needs a villain, even if they’re bestowed the title wrongfully. Leela James reflects this unfair betrayal in her new song “Put It On Me.”

On the appropriately titled track, produced by Rex Rideout, the R&B veteran happily takes the fall of a failed relationship for the sake of any consolation to a so-called wronged lover. She knows “heaven knows everything,” and that’s all that matters in the end.

Along with the new song comes the supporting video. Watch it below. 

“Put It On Me” is the second offering from James’ forthcoming album See Me, slated to arrive on July 30. It marks her first project since 2019’s Are You Ready and her first proper album since 2017’s Did It for Love.

See Me includes James’ blazing new single “Complicated,” which is currently storming up the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart and R&B radio. It recently became the singer-songwriter’s third top 10 on the former chart.
