Kid Cudi’s Auction Haul Hits $850K
Kid Cudi just pulled in a major bag, selling over $850,000 worth of personal items through Pharrell’s auction platform, Joopiter. The auction, titled On Another Planet: The Collection of Kid Cudi, featured 75 rare and unique pieces from the rapper’s personal stash, including jewelry, sneakers, clothes, and artwork.
The highest-priced item was a custom 14-karat gold N.E.R.D. pendant designed by Jacob & Co and originally commissioned by Pharrell back in 2005. Cudi had purchased the piece at an earlier auction but chose to let it go this time, with the winning bid landing at $243,750, more than double the expected value.
Another standout was a one-of-a-kind chain created by Ben Baller, Takashi Murakami, and Kid Cudi himself, which went for $187,500, slightly under its $200,000 estimate. Cudi also sold a pair of rare Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 Lows designed by the late Virgil Abloh for $82,500, along with an 18-karat gold Ben Baller chain made in his likeness, decked out in diamonds, sapphires, and rubies. That one fetched $43,750.
Collectors also scooped up vintage music tees from Cudi’s closet, including original designs featuring Eminem, Nirvana, and Michael Jackson. Speaking to GQ, Cudi said, “Joopiter has been wanting to do something with me for a while, so I recently reached out to the team and let them know I had some stuff I was willing to part with, things I’ve collected throughout my career.”
As for the MJ tee, he explained, “Anybody who goes vintage shopping in the best places knows there’s always so many dope Michael Jackson shirts… so it took me some time to really think about letting this one go.”
