61 The 2022 Billboard Music Awards is already shaping up to be one for the books. Held Sunday night at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena, the event was hosted and executive produced by Sean “Diddy” Combs. Performers included Silk Sonic and Maxwell, who saluted Michael Jackson and his Thriller album for its 40th anniversary.
The Icon Award honoree Mary J. Blige had Janet Jackson present her with the ceremony’s highest honor.
The Weeknd landed the most nominations this year with 17 total. The Canadian hitmaker was crowned top R&B male artist.
Silk Sonic (Anderson Paak and Bruno Mars) earned a win for top R&B Song for “Leave The Door Open.” Mars also collected top R&B tour for Bruno Mars at Park MGM.
Omarion’s The Millennium Tour 2021 was named top rap tour. The R&B veteran shares the win with Bow Wow.
