Harry Styles' 'Today' Show Performances: Watch
A swarm of screaming girls formed “the first Today show mosh pit,” according to Carson Daly, in NYC on Wednesday morning (Feb. 26), when heartthrob Harry Styles performed the best tunes from his Fine Line album.
“I’ve never done that song this early,” Styles told co-host Hoda Kotb after he rocked the Citi Concert Series stage with his high-energy performance of “Kiwi.” He had been amping up the rowdy young girls after sweetening them up with “Watermelon Sugar,” which he whipped out his night-sky-painted guitar for.
The cloudy, rainy weather was no match for the “rainbow paradise” Styles sings about in “Adore You,” which featured his suave low-tone vocals as opposed to his recorded piercing falsetto floating throughout the chorus. But the mini-concert wouldn’t be complete without performing the Fine Line fan favorite “Lights Up” for the last song. Styles donned a pink blazer, much like the one he wore on the Citi Concert Series stage two years ago when he was promoting his debut eponymous album, with a cerulean collared shirt, black-and-white polka-dot tie and burgundy slacks for a crisp, colorful look.
But when all was sang and done, he chatted about Lizzo, sharing some sweet words about his pal and dropping a hint about a potential collaboration. “I just think she’s amazing, I think she’s such a great artist,” he told the Today show hosts. “I think as a fan, what you want an artist to be is themselves, and I think she’s someone who’s just herself. And she makes amazing music, and it’s really feel-good, and I think that’s what a lot of people need right now.”
When asked if a collab was finally in the works, he shrugged and said, “Maybe,” to the overwhelming shrill of the live audience.
