Giveon’s ‘Heartbreak Anniversary’ Is Now Certified 3X Platinum
Givēon received his first new award of 2022 from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
“Heartbreak Anniversary,” the Long Beach, California, native’s second most popular song on Spotify, is now certified 3X multi-platinum. It follows his trio of gold plaques from last October.
Released in February 2020, the emotive tune, produced by Sevn Thomas and Maneesh, marks Givēon’s second certification level of this kind behind “Peaches,” the Grammy-nominated song that he co-stars on with Justin Bieber and Daniel Caesar.
Flashing back to July 2021, “Heartbreak Anniversary” rocketed to the number-one position at urban radio, giving Givēon a career first on this airplay format.
Toward the end of last year, Givēon gained a Best R&B Song Grammy nomination for his newly certified track. Five other 2022 Grammy nominations followed, mainly for “Peaches,” such as Record and Song of the Year and Best R&B Performance.
He also landed an Album of the Year consideration as a featured artist on Bieber’s Justice.
Givēon’s most recent single, “For Tonight,” is worked as the lead single to his hotly anticipated debut album. It will follow his gold-selling compilation project, When It’s All Said and Done… Take Time, which includes the songs from his first two EPs: Take Time and When It’s All Said and Done.
Take Time, nominated for Best R&B Album in 2021, received praise on Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2020 list.
