Ciara to Host Billboard’s 2022 Women in Music Awards
March is Women’s History Month. It is also the month of the Billboard Women in Music Awards, scheduled to be held on March 2, in Los Angeles at the YouTube Theater.
Ciara has been named as the mistress of ceremonies to help celebrate groundbreaking women from a range of genres and eras, including Summer Walker (Chartbreaker Award), Doja Cat (Powerhouse Award), and Bonnie Raitt (Icon Award), to name a few.
In revealing her host role, the Grammy-winning diva declared in a tweet, “This is going to be fun! See you there on March 2! @billboard #BBWomenInMusic”.
Billboard, for the first time, will allow the public to purchase tickets for the Women in Music Awards. Tickets go on sale in February, but a specific date has yet to be announced. The awards will be available streaming as well.
Ciara, who will make a cameo in Janet Jackson’s JANET documentary on A&E and Lifetime, has stayed low profile in the music arena.
She did appear on the closing track of Walker’s Still Over it album last year, while being discussed in Elijah Blake’s Board + Pen installment for the track “DUI.”
In non-related music news, Ciara and her husband Russell Wilson are releasing Why Not You?, a children’s book named after their Why Not You Foundation. It’s out March 1.
