Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records is facing fresh attention after Arkansas rapper Bic Fizzle was arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into a deadly shooting in Jonesboro. The Blytheville artist, whose real name is Jeremiah Edrick Northern, had been gaining recognition after joining Gucci Mane’s 1017 roster in 2021. The arrest marks another difficult moment for a label that has repeatedly found itself connected to legal controversies involving some of its artists.

Northern was taken into custody on July 7 after authorities began investigating a shooting that occurred the previous night on Fairview Drive in Jonesboro. Police report that officers responded to reports of gunfire and allege that Northern and another individual attempted to rob two people before the shooting took place. The second suspect, described by authorities only as a 20-year-old man, has not been publicly identified. Officials have also not yet disclosed which victim died in the incident.

Northern was booked into the Craighead County Detention Center on suspicion of first-degree murder. While prosecutors have not announced formal charges at this stage, investigators continue to release limited information regarding the circumstances of the case. As the legal process moves forward, Northern remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Bic Fizzle’s Rise Meets Uncertainty

Prior to this investigation, Bic Fizzle was viewed as one of Arkansas’ most promising young rap figures. His local releases helped introduce him to a wider audience, eventually catching the attention of Gucci Mane, who signed him as part of 1017 Records’ continued effort to develop emerging Southern talent. While the label has successfully elevated several artists into national recognition, it has also faced significant public scrutiny as members of its extended roster have encountered various legal issues.

For now, it remains unclear what effect this investigation will have on Bic Fizzle’s career or his ongoing relationship with 1017 Records. Neither Gucci Mane nor the label has publicly commented on the matter. As the case continues to develop, authorities are working to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
