Yella Beezy’s Capital Murder Trial Rescheduled to October 26

A Dallas judge has rescheduled rapper Yella Beezy’s capital murder trial for Oct. 26, giving defense attorneys additional time to prepare for the high-profile case. Yella Beezy, whose legal name is Markies Conway, was originally slated to begin jury selection this week. However, Judge Chika Anyiam granted a motion for continuance, officially setting the new date for jury selection to commence on Oct. 26, 2026.

The formal order was filed with the Dallas County Clerk on Monday, Sept. 14. Conway faces a capital murder charge in connection with the 2020 killing of Dallas rapper MO3, born Melvin Noble. Prosecutors allege that Conway orchestrated the murder by hiring Kewon White, citing a long-standing dispute between the two artists. Noble was tragically killed during an ambush on Interstate 35 in Dallas at the age of 28.

Kewon White was convicted of capital murder earlier this month and sentenced to life in prison. Conway’s defense team, led by attorneys Toby Shook, Michael Mowla, and John Gussio, requested a transcript of White’s trial to better prepare their strategy. The court reporter indicated that the transcript would require approximately 30 days to complete, and the defense requested an additional two weeks for review, a request to which prosecutors agreed.

Conway has entered a plea of not guilty and continues to maintain his innocence. The trial remains a significant point of interest within the Dallas hip-hop community. In addition to Conway and White, a third defendant, Devin Brown, also faces capital murder charges related to the death of Melvin Noble.

The delay allows both the defense and the prosecution to coordinate with federal witnesses and ensure all necessary evidence from the previous trial is thoroughly reviewed before the proceedings move forward in October.
