Freddie Gibbs & Alchemist Announce New Album ‘Alfredo 2’ Feat. J.I.D, Larry June & Anderson .Paak
Rapper Freddie Gibbs, who is best known for skating like butter on a hot pan when it comes to Alchemist beats (as was evident in their GRAMMY-nominated album Alfredo), has just announced the inevitable: Alfredo 2. That’s right; The Alchemist is back on production for the project, which is supposed to drop on July 25, 2025.
The cover for this sequel is a ramen, possibly signifying the shift in sonics to a more Asia-based sample-bank for Alchemist to chop. This artwork itself is a callback to the original Alfredo album, which had a bowl of spaghetti for its artwork.
For some fans, the shift to a ‘ramen’ illustration didn’t sit well. After all, there is obvious incongruence between pasta and ramen, and the name Alfredo 2 is very obviously more pasta themed. Although those fans would find it helpful to remember the origins of the name Alfredo for the project: ‘Al’ from Alchemist, ‘Fredo’ from Freddie Gibbs.
