Tina Knowles had a few words for the higher-ups at Target after it decided to abandon its diversity, fairness, and inclusion initiatives. In a now-deleted Instagram post, Knowles accused the company of “bowing down” and “kissing the ring.” The post follows a company statement released on Friday (Jan. 24), where Target’s Chief Community Impact and Equity Officer, Kiera Fernandez, said the company is entering a “new chapter.”

“As a retailer that serves millions of consumers every day, we understand the importance of staying in step with the evolving external landscape, now and in the future,” the statement continues. In the caption of Knowles’ post, which contained a screenshot from an article about Target’s decision, she writes,” So Yal Bowed down and kissed the ring huh. Crossing you off my list! No more Target!”

Plies Calls Out Target After Abandoning DEI Initiatives

Tina Knowles wasn’t the only one who called out the popular chain store. Plies hopped online to share his thoughts about Target’s decision to forgo its diversity, fairness, and inclusion initiatives. In the “Shawty” rapper’s opinion, the company has gotten on the “crazy train.” Plies infers that since the company is “evolving,” he’s doing that same and will refrain from spending any of his “big-faced hundreds” at their stores.

“You can’t get no more of this muthaf*ckin money from me,” he says. On the other hand, Plies did admit, before the news, that he was a fan of the company and frequented its store locations often. However, he takes a satirical twist on the company’s slogan, “Expect More. Pay less,” saying he “expected more” and will be paying the company “less.”
