Silk Sonic Wins Four Awards at 2022 Grammys
Silk Sonic left a major mark at the 64th Grammy Awards on Sunday. The duo (Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars) won four Grammys, taking home a trophy in every category they were nominated in this year.
It all started at the premiere ceremony, held ahead of the live broadcast. Their chart-topping single “Leave The Door Open” tied with Jazmine Sullivan’s “Pick Up Your Feelings” for Best R&B Performance. The D’Mile and Mars-produced hit was then awarded Best R&B Song.
Before Silk Sonic scooped up the coveted Record of the Year and Song of the Year for “Leave The Door Open,” they opened the Grammy Awards with a live performance of “777.”
Both “Leave The Door Open” and “777” appear on the duo’s debut album, An Evening With Silk Sonic. Since the album was released after the eligibility period for the 64th Grammy Awards (Sept. 30, 2021), didn’t qualify to be nominated this year. Instead, it will be eligible for nominations at the 65th Grammy Awards, if submitted. The ceremony is slated to take place in 2023.

Released on Nov. 12, 2021, An Evening With Silk Sonic debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, with 104,000 equivalent units sold in the first week. In the same week, seven out of the album’s nine tracks charted on the Billboard Hot 100, including the focus track “Smokin Out The Window” (No. 5), “After Last Night” featuring Thundercat and Bootsy Collins (No. 68), and “Put On A Smile” (No. 78).
To support their album, Silk Sonic launched their Las Vegas residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM in February. After a month off, .Paak and Mars will resume their residency on May 4 and will conclude on May 29.
Although Silk Sonic has been busy pushing their debut album, they did drop a cover of Con Funk Shun’s “Love’s Train” on Valentine’s Day.
“We love this song so much we wanted to sing it for y’all. #HappyValentinesDay Beautiful people,” they said.
