H.E.R. Now Has More Than 20 Grammy Nominations
H.E.R. is a magnet for awards, just ask the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). This year alone, she’s earned an RIAA certification every month since May. Today, the 24-year-old singer/songwriter reached another career milestone. After gaining eight nods at the 2022 Grammy Awards, H.E.R. has a career total of 21 Grammy nominations.
H.E.R. is nominated in the following categories at the 2022 Grammy Awards: Album of the Year (Back of My Mind); Song of the Year (“Fight For Youâ€); Best R&B Performance (“Damageâ€); Best Traditional R&B Performance (“Fight For Youâ€); Best R&B Song (“Damageâ€); Best R&B Album (Back of My Mind); Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song (“Hold Us Together [Hope Mix]â€) with Tauren Wells; and Best Song Written For Visual Media (“Fight For Youâ€).
This is H.E.R.’s third time getting nominated for Album of the Year. In other words, every project that she has released has been Grammy-nominated, including Back of My Mind (2022), I Used to Know Her (2019), and H.E.R. (2018).
It also marks H.E.R.’s return to having a project nominated simultaneously for Best R&B Album and Album of the Year at the same time. She last saw this accomplishment at the 61st Grammy Awards in 2019 with her self-titled project.
Additionally, this is H.E.R.’s third consecutive year seeing a Grammy nod for the Song of the Year. Her politically-charged anthem “I Can’t Breathe†won at the 2021 ceremony, while “Hard Place†was among the field of nods in 2020.
Last but not least, for a fourth consecutive year, H.E.R. has received a nomination for Best R&B Song. “Better Than I Imagined,†her collaboration with Robert Glasper and Meshell Ndegeocello, took home the trophy earlier this year. She was nominated in 2020 (“Could’ve Been†featuring Bryson Tiller) and 2019 (“Focusâ€), but did not win.
The 64th Grammy Awards will air live on Monday, Jan. 31 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. Find out more information about this year’s nominees here.
