Drake’s Sixth Studio Album Is Dropping This Summer
Drake may have already blessed his fans with a new mixtape in the form of Dark Lane Demo Tapes, but the man has even more new music up his sleeve come summer. Before dropping DLDT at midnight on Friday, the rapper hopped on Instagram to explain how his latest project, which is comprised of both old and new joints, came to be, and he included some exciting news in the post.
“My brothers @oliverelkhatib @ovonoel put together alot of the songs people have been asking for (some leaks and some joints from SoundCloud and some new vibes),” he explained on the post, which includes the tape’s cover art and tracklist. “DARK LANE DEMO TAPES out everywhere at midnight…also my 6th STUDIO ALBUM DROPPING SUMMER 2020!!!” he revealed. He also pointed that it was “Lucky number 6,” likely due to the its association with his hometown of Toronto, which is often referred to as “the 6.”

This upcoming album will follow Drizzy’s last studio release, 2018’s Scorpion. He dropped his first official debut album in 2010 with Thank Me Later, followed by Take Care in 2011, Nothing Was The Same in 2013, and Views in 2016. Back in February, Drake vowed that his sixth studio album would be shorter than Scorpion, which bears a whopping 25 tracks. “Last album, I went high volume. I did two sides. It was like 20-something songs, which is a lot of songs,” he said. “This album I’ll probably make it more of a realistic offering. Something more concise. It could be 10, 11 songs, 16.” Can’t wait to hear what he’s got in store.
