Celebrities are remembering the life and contributions of Bill Withers in the wake of his death. The musician died on Monday (March 30) due to heart complications at the age of 81.

“Songs that have been a part of our lives by Bill Withers—the 1970s R&B singer/songwriter who recorded the modern soul standards ‘Lean On Me,’ ‘Ain’t No Sunshine,’ shall live on…Thank you for your Inspiration Condolences to Family -RIP,” wrote actor Robert Davi.

“Rest in peace, maestro Bill Withers. What a legacy,” Lin-Manuel Miranda tweeted alongside a clip of the singer performing “Ain’t No Sunshine.”

Former Democratic presidential hopeful Kamala Harris also posted a touching tribute to the late R&B great. “The world lost a legend. Soul singer Bill Withers’ song Grandma’s Hands is one of my favorites and reminds me of my grandmother and so many other mother-figures in my life,” she tweeted. “Let’s all continue to live by his cherished lyrics during these times and lean on each other.”

Over the course of his career, Withers won three Grammy awards for best rhythm and blues song — “Ain’t No Sunshine” in 1971, “Just the Two of Us” in 1981 and “Lean on Me” in 1987 — before his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.
