Mark Ronson took to Instagram on Friday (March 27) to pay tribute to legends who were taken too soon due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“I think because of the current news cycle, they didn’t get the same celebration they might have gotten normally,” Ronson said of Manu Dibango, who died just a few days ago at age 86 from COVID-19 complications.

“A legend in music, a beautiful man,” Ronson said of the soul ambassador, before noting that Dibango “made a record that will be played of dance floors for the rest of all time.”

That record is 1972’s “Soul Makossa.” “I must have DJed this song 17 times at once,” Ronson added, before showing clips of well-known songs from Michael Jackson, Rihanna and Jay-Z featuring familiar “Mama ko mama sa maka makoosa.”
