2022 People’s Choice Awards Nominees Announced: R&B Edition
NBC and E! have announced their 2023 People’s Choice Awards nominees.
Beyoncé leads in the music field with three nominations, including Female Artist of 2022. The global icon also earns nominations for Song of 2022 (“Break My Soul“) and Album of 2022 (Renaissance).
“Break My Soul,” co-written and co-produced by The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, was released as the lead single from Beyoncé’s hit album Renaissance.
The house track, certified gold by RIAA, topped multiple Billboard charts, including the Hot 100 and Adult R&B Airplay chart.
The Weeknd snagged two nominations, including Male Artist of 2022 and Album of 2022 for Dawn FM.
His follow-up to 2020’s After Hours was issued in January via XO/Republic Records and featured the singles “Sacrifice” and “Gasoline.”
He quickly expanded his fifth studio album and titled it Dawn FM (Alternate World). The updated LP featured three additional tracks, including “Take My Breath (Remix) with Agents of Time, plus the previously shared “Moth To A Flame” featuring Swedish House Mafia.
Chlöe, Muni Long and Steve Lacy each land New Artist of 2022 nominations.
In September, Long released her debut album, Public Displays of Affection (The Album).
Around the same time, Lacy’s “Bad Habit” soared to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It appears on his sophomore album, Gemini Rights.
Meanwhile, Chlöe is gearing up to release “For The Night” featuring Latto on Oct. 28. It will appear on her highly awaited self-titled debut album.
Music aside, Keke Palmer scores two nominations in the film/television categories, including Female Movie Star of 2022 and Drama Movie Star of 2022, for her role in the sci-fi drama Nope. The movie itself received nods, as well as her opposite Daniel Kaluuya.
Other R&B-centric nominees include Jennifer Hudson and Teyana Taylor.
Fans determine the People’s Choice Awards winners by voting. Polls are open now through Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
The 2023 People’s Choice Awards, hosted by Kenan Thompson, will air simultaneously on NBC and E! on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 9 p.m. ET.
