Zayn Malik & Gigi Hadid: A Playlist for Their Future Baby
It’s official: Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid are going to be parents!
After days of circulating rumors, the 25-year-old model confirmed the news on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday (April 30). “Obviously, we wish we could have announced it on our own terms,” she said. “We’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support.”
In honor of Zigi’s future baby (blessed with the world’s best genes), we’ve compiled a celebratory playlist for the new happy family. See it below.
“Pillowtalk” – ZAYN
Malik’s 2016 debut single, “Pillowtalk,” featured none other than his baby mama as the sultry love interest. The video served as a relationship confirmation at a time when their romance was just speculation. Full circle!
“Let Me” – ZAYN
Okay so Gigi isn’t in this video, but the sweet lyrics are about her. “And if you let me be your man / Then I’ll take care of you / For the rest of my life, for the rest of yours,” he sings in the chorus, which is very fitting for Zigi’s love story.
Unfortunately, the couple was broken up at the time of release. “[I wrote ‘Let Me’] about seven or eight months ago,” Malik said in a phone interview with Ryan Seacrest. “I was in love and I think that’s pretty evident and I was aspiring to be in love with someone for the rest of my life and the rest of theirs, as we all do. Things change and we move forward in life and times change, but that’s what I was thinking when I wrote it.”
“Electricity” – Silk City & Dua Lipa (feat. Diplo, Mark Ronson)Â
Auntie Dua is here! Baby Zigi will surely be spending plenty of time with Gigi’s famous family members, including her brother Anwar and his girlfriend, the “New Rules” songstress. “And even if I could / I wouldn’t turn on you,” she belts in the chorus, which is the supportive energy she’ll be giving the new bundle of joy.
“Angel” – The Weeknd
The Weeknd and Bella Hadid’s relationship may not be existent right now, but we still have hope. We just picture Abel singing, “All I see are wings, I can see your wings,” to the baby and we swoon.
“What Makes You Beautiful” – One Direction
The baby needs to know the song that made us all collectively fall in love with his or her father. It’s also a given that the child will light up Zayn’s world like nobody else.
“Little Things” – One Direction
Speaking of One Direction, “Little Things” is the perfect, reassuring song for establishing confidence in the new baby. “I know you’ve never loved the sound of your voice on tape / You never want to know how much you weigh / You still have to squeeze into your jeans / But you’re perfect to me,” the heart-melting verse promises.
“How You Get the Girl” – Taylor Swift
Hadid revealed that the 1989 cut is one of her favorite songs from her superstar pal. It’s on this playlist for two reasons, the first being that we imagine Zigi got back together to the sound of this tune. Second, we really, really want Swift to be the baby’s godmother.
“Isn’t She Lovely” – Stevie Wonder
There has to be a few parenthood-related tunes on this playlist. The classic is Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely.”
The chorus speaks for itself: “I never thought through love / We’d be making one as lovely as she / But isn’t she lovely made from love?”
“Mama” – Spice Girls
In honor of Gigi’s love for the Spice Girls’ style, we imagine the apologetic and appreciative “Mama” will come in handy when the model’s child grows into a teenager.
“Song for Dad” – Keith Urban
The emotional lyrics express thoughts that surely every man experiences when becoming a father for the first time. “I only hope when I have my own family / That everyday I see / A little more of my father in me,” Urban sings in the chorus.
“The Best Day” – Taylor Swift
The Zigi playlist ends with another Swift tune, which reminisces on her warm, loving childhood–a lovely upbringing that Gigi and Zayn will definitely give the new addition to their family.
