Big Willy is back.

Will Smith returns to rap with his first full-length project in 20 years, Based On A True Story. The 14-track project boasts a few notable features, namely Teyana Taylor and social media personality B. Simone. His longtime collaborator and friend, DJ Jazzy Jeff, will also be featured on the album. Based On A True Story is scheduled to be released later this month, on Friday, Mar.28.

While the rapper hasn’t spoken much about the project, it’s clear he’s trying to return to his hip-hop roots. On the cover, Smith is spotted rocking some Philadelphia Phillies gear. The rapper’s last project, Lost And Found, was released in 2005 and featured the hit single “Switch.” The album reached No.6 on the US Billboard 200 and was certified gold by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).

Will Smith Joins Doechii’s Viral “Anxiety” Challenge

Will Smith just made the viral “Anxiety” challenge even bigger by jumping in alongside Doechii. On Thursday, March 13th, he surprised fans by adding his own twist to the popular TikTok trend, proving once again that he knows how to tap into a cultural moment.

In the clip, Smith bobs his head to the eerie hook, “Somebody’s watchin’ me, it’s my anxiety”, while staring into a mirror. When he turns toward the camera, his reflection stays behind, and Doechii takes his place. The Hollywood icon also made sure to credit influencer Brooke Monk for kicking off the trend.

With so many Fresh Prince of Bel-Air edits tied to the challenge, it was only a matter of time before Smith got involved. Over the past week, TikTok users have been recreating a classic scene from the show—where Will catches Ashley Banks (played by Tatyana Ali) dancing to her Walkman and joins in. The challenge has taken off, with both fans and celebrities putting their own spin on it.
