For Trey Songz’s upcoming eighth studio album, the Virginia native is deciding to take it Back Home. The highly anticipated LP will arrive on October 9 via Atlantic Records.

The 22-track project will include the Summer Walker-assisted title track, “Circles,” “2020 Riots: How Many Times” and the most recent tune “Two Ways.” Songz says the latter track is one of his favorite songs on the album.

Speaking on the inspiration behind Back Home, Songz explained, “I wanna make the kind of R&B that inspired me to sing,” he says. “The songs that make you love, the ones that make cry and the ones that make you smile, laugh and dance. Music is the soundtrack that plays while we live our lives, and I wanna be there for my fans while they are living through this truly special time that we’ll never forget. I say I’m ‘Back Home’ because the music feels that way. I hope you feel the same.”

Back Home, which will follow Songz’s 2017 LP Tremaine The Album, is executive produced by Songz and his longtime collaborator and mentor Troy Taylor.

“We got back to the love of making songs that fit the Trey SonGz/SongBook brand @treysongz,” Taylor posted on Instagram.

This summer, Songz celebrated the 15th anniversary of his debut album I Gotta Make It, which was also executive produced by Taylor. In September, they celebrated the 10th anniversary of Songz’s Passion Pain & Pleasure album.
