Legendary producer Timbaland, who defined the sound of the 2000s with his signature percussion-heavy production, is currently embroiled in a significant legal battle. The hitmaker, who also co-founded the cultural phenomenon Verzuz alongside Swizz Beatz in 2020, has filed a $15 million lawsuit against his former managers, Gary Marella and Bruce Seckendorf.

According to a 65-page filing in the Los Angeles Superior Court, the producer alleges that his former team engaged in a pattern of financial misconduct. The lawsuit claims that Marella misappropriated millions through unauthorized commissions and fees, further alleging that he falsified financial records to conceal these illicit payments, particularly regarding the business operations of Verzuz.

The allegations against Seckendorf are equally serious, with the producer claiming that his former manager failed to manage his financial obligations, including federal taxes and mortgage payments. The lawsuit asserts that this negligence brought the producer’s home to the brink of foreclosure. These developments follow the termination of both managers in 2025.

The legal documents suggest that despite the accumulation of 12 months of arrears, the defendants prioritized personal and legal expenses, allegedly directing nearly $900,000 toward themselves and their legal counsel over a five-month period. As the case proceeds, the industry watches closely to see how these claims of fraud and breach of contract will be resolved in court.
