The Wayans Remember Being Next-Door Neighbors To Michael Jordan
During the 90s, the Wayans family was once a neighbor to NBA legend Michael Jordan and it was something they’ll never forget.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Damon Wayans Sr and his son Damon Wayans Jr. recalled being next-door neighbors to Jordan when he was filming Space Jam in the ’90s
Damon Sr. said that “it was amazing” having Jordan as a neighbor.
The six-time champion was a frequent visitor to Wayans home because of the array of snacks.
“Snacks! So many snacks. Your snack game was off the chain,” Damon Jr. said. “Michael Jordan used to come over and eat all my snacks. That’s how good our snacks were.”
“He came over too much,” Damon Jr. joked. “Shout-out to Jordan though.”
Damon Sr. said his friends would often come over to get a glimpse of Jordan. He had to give them a disclaimer to keep it together,
“My friends would want to come over — not to see me — but to see him, to hope to get a glimpse of Michael Jordan.”
One thing I really put my foot down for was don’t bother him,” Damon Sr. explained. “He moved in for the whole summer [next door] and I only went over to the house once and that’s because he invited me in.”
Even Damon Sr. admitted that he had to keep himself from fanning out.
“Did the fan in me want to be there every day? Yes, because I could see him from my window. I would see him inside. There he is, there he is, there he is, look, look, look, look, look, look, look.” Damon Sr. continued.
“I remember you guys Army crawled to the window to see him,” Damon Jr.
With all of this reminiscing about Jordan, maybe he’ll make a guest appearance on Poppa’s House.
Season 1 returns Jan. 27 for its mid-season premiere on CBS, and previous episodes are available on Paramount+.
