Rapper Lil Durk is currently facing serious legal scrutiny in a federal murder-for-hire case, and his industry peer Tekashi 6ix9ine has made it clear he is watching the proceedings closely. During a recent livestream with DJ Akademiks, 6ix9ine announced his intention to host a “Lil Durk Going Away Party” if the Chicago rapper is found guilty of the charges brought against him.

The comments from 6ix9ine arrived as the federal trial in Los Angeles continues to unfold. Prosecutors are currently presenting evidence and testimony regarding the alleged plot, which authorities claim was orchestrated by Durk—legally known as Durk Banks—in retaliation for the 2020 death of King Von. Banks has entered a plea of not guilty to the charges.

Testimony from the Federal Trial

The trial has featured significant testimony from cooperating witness Kacey Hester, also known as OTF Jam. Hester, who was identified as one of the gunmen involved in a 2022 shooting at a West Hollywood gas station, provided jurors with details regarding an alleged bounty placed on rapper Quando Rondo. According to Hester, Banks promised between $500,000 and $1 million for the killing.

Hester described the execution of the plot as “sloppy” and admitted that he felt conflicted about the situation. Despite his decision to cooperate with federal authorities, Hester noted that he still harbors personal affection for Banks, though he emphasized that his respect for the rapper has vanished. “I still got love for him, I just got no respect for him,” Hester testified.

Prosecution’s Stance on the Case

Federal prosecutor Daniel Weiner has been firm in framing the trial as a matter of criminal justice rather than a critique of the music industry. “This case is not about music — it’s about murder,” Weiner stated during the proceedings. The government alleges that Banks leveraged his financial resources and influence within his Only The Family (OTF) collective to pressure members into carrying out acts of violence.
