SZA’s ‘I Hate U’ Is Now Certified Gold
SZA has just received a clear message from fans that “I Hate U” is a true winner.
With over 500,000 equivalent units sold since officially hitting streaming services last December, the song is now certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
From day one, “I Hate U” had great fan support on its side. It dominated multiple charts at Apple Music, earning SZA a first-week streaming best on the platform for an R&B song by a female artist.
At the year’s height, SZA shared a visualizer for “I Hate U,” starring LaKeith Stanfield. It grows in views on YouTube and even more in streams on Spotify, signified as her most-played track with 86 million plays and counting.
Other than that, SZA’s “Good Days,” a 2022 Best R&B Song nominee, has been upped to 3X multi-platinum.
SZA remains on a long and winning road to her untitled sophomore album, which is expected to come out this year. It serves as the follow-up to her beloved 2017 debut Ctrl, celebrating its fifth anniversary soon.
She’ll be headed to the 2022 Grammys in early April to go after awards in general categories, as well as the pop field. Most are for her participation in Doja Cat’s breakout LP Planet Her.
