Snoop Dogg Rejects Blame in Drakeo The Ruler Festival Death
The company associated with Snoop Dogg has formally requested that a Los Angeles court dismiss a wrongful death lawsuit filed in connection with the 2021 killing of rapper Drakeo the Ruler. The legal filing argues that the entity bears no liability for the tragic events that transpired during the “Once Upon a Time in L.A.” festival, where the artist was fatally stabbed.
In a motion for summary judgment, legal representatives for the rapper’s limited liability company maintain that the entity held no operational control over the festival. The filing clarifies that the company did not sign any leasing or licensing agreements related to Exposition Park, the venue where the incident occurred. Furthermore, the defense emphasizes that Snoop Dogg’s involvement was strictly limited to his performance, rather than any oversight of production, security, or logistical planning.
Court documents further assert that representatives for the company were neither present at the event nor aware of the circumstances that led to the fatal attack. The declaration explicitly denies any involvement in the hiring of security personnel or coordination with individuals linked to the incident, noting that the company had no prior contact with those responsible for the violence.
Court Weighs Responsibility in Deadly Festival Lawsuit
The wrongful death lawsuit, initiated in 2022 by the brother of Drakeo the Ruler, alleges that insufficient security measures at the festival created an environment that allowed the fatal stabbing to occur. The litigation has named several high-profile parties, including Live Nation and the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC), which operates the stadium venue.
In a significant development for the ongoing case, a judge recently granted a motion for summary judgment filed by LAFC, effectively dismissing them from the lawsuit. As the legal proceedings continue, the court remains tasked with determining the extent of liability among the various organizers and stakeholders involved in the festival’s security and production arrangements.
