Silk Sonic’s ‘Smokin Out The Window’ Reaches No. 1 at Urban Radio
Silk Sonic (Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars) takes over the top slot on urban radio with “Smokin Out The Window,” giving the duo their second leader on this format from An Evening With Silk Sonic. It has surpassed more than 14.2 million audience impressions.
Co-produced by D’Mile and Mars, “Smokin Out The Window” previously peaked atop R&B radio last month, making it Silk Sonic’s second as a pair. That move scored them a number-one song at Billboard Adult R&B, remaining at the summit for one week.
Their runaway success on these two airplay charts started in 2021 following the release of “Leave The Door Open,” a contender for multiple 2022 Grammys and iHeartRadio Awards.
An Evening With Silk Sonic arrived in November 2021 to critical acclaim. So much a success with critics that the release ended up on Rated R&B’s Best R&B Albums of 2021 list.
Rated R&B’s Keithan Samuels wrote, “It’s somewhat of a concept album arranged like an intimate live show.”
To support An Evening With Silk Sonic, the two have planned a 25-date Las Vegas residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM. It starts on Feb. 25.
Most recently, .Paak collaborated with Mary J. Blige on her new album Good Morning Gorgeous, out now. He appears on the song “Here With Me.” He also co-wrote and co-produced “Love Without The Heartbreak.”
In an interview with Mary J. Blige’s A&R Eddie Fourcell, he discussed how it was like to experience Blige and .Paak’s working chemistry.
“I love seeing her and Anderson work in the studio because it’s literally magic,” Fourcell explained.
“It goes back to those records that real Mary fans love, like those songs that weren’t built for the radio. It was just built for ad-libbing, expressing and cursing.”
