Rotimi Lands First RIAA Certification
Rotimi is a first-time certification holder. The singer/actor has earned a gold plaque from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for his Wale-featured track “In My Bed.â€
Regarding the certification news, Rotimi wrote on Instagram, “I’m just a first generation Nigerian kid from Jersey. Don’t EVER let anyone tell you that there’s a box, a CEILING or LIMIT to what you can do, or who you can be. Nothing comes easy no shortcuts no delay. Hard work.â€
Billed as a single from his 2019 EP The Beauty of Becoming, the Harmony Samuels-produced song received animated video treatment amid the pandemic. He followed with an official video, which has been viewed over 33 million times on YouTube.
The fan-favorite, recognized on Spotify as Rotimi’s most popular song to date, has garnered more than 75.4 million streams on the streaming platform.
Back in June, Rotimi released a pair of tracks: “What to Do†and “Decide.†He hopped on rising artist Precious’ new song “Hey Boy†in April. He closed out last year with “Love Somebody,†a beautiful new song produced by The Bizness. It arrived with a supporting video.
