Rita Ora And Taika Waititi Are Your 2022 EMA Hosts
The 2022 MTV EMA show is less than a month away, and the secret is finally out: Iconic couple Rita Ora and Taika Waititi will take the stage as your hosts for the big night in Germany.
The “Only Want You” singer and New Zealand filmmaker are both excited to celebrate the best musicians and performances from around the world. Previously, Ora hosted the 2017 EMA in London where Shawn Mendes took home the most awards for that night.
“I’m thrilled to be back hosting, and sharing the stage with Taika makes it all the more special,” she said in an official statement. “We’ve got it all at this year’s EMAs, fun surprises, fantastic fashion, comedy, and above all amazing music! We can’t wait for audiences to share these moments with us.”
Harry Styles leads this year’s EMA nominations field garnering seven nods, including Best Artist, Best Song, and Best Video. Taylor Swift follows behind with six noms, and she also earned one for Best Longform Video, a brand new category for the event. Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj and Rosalía each earned five noms, with both competing for Best Song and Best Artist.
Styles, Swift, Rosalía, and German rapper Badmómzjay have also scored nominations for Best Local Act in their respective home regions.
The 2022 EMA will be broadcasted live on MTV in more than 170 countries on November 13 from the PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf, Germany. It will also be available to stream on Paramount+ and Pluto TV globally beginning November 14. This year will mark the sixth time Germany has hosted the awards.
