Rick Ross Addresses His Complicated Fallout With Drake
Rick Ross is offering his perspective on one of hip-hop’s most closely watched disputes. He explained that his fallout with Drake was real but not a sign that their previous relationship was built on anything false. During an appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast, Ross discussed his latest album, Set In Stone, while revisiting the tension that developed between him and Drake following the Kendrick Lamar battle. The two artists were once frequent collaborators. However, their relationship became strained as the broader conflict unfolded across the music industry.
When Joe Budden suggested that the friendship or feud may have been more complicated than it appeared publicly, Ross rejected the idea that their history was staged. “No, no, don’t get it f***ed up. Nothing about that was fake,” Ross said. He explained that relationships can change when circumstances shift, even after years of mutual respect. “If a n***a f**k with you, a n***a f**k with you,” he continued. “If it’s something that go left, that’s when it go left. It can go left right now on this podcast. It wasn’t fake. Before that, n***as showing love.”
Budden pushed back by saying that a partnership built over time usually has deeper reasons behind a major split. Ross responded by comparing the situation to Budden’s own professional changes, including his separation from former podcast partners Rory and Mal. “Some things are not to be looking for the connection,” he explained. “That’s like me looking for the connection between the last weird n***as you used to do the podcast with. You loved them n***as, didn’t you? That’s business. You moved on. That’s what you got to do as a boss. You wish all them n***as the best if it ain’t no real pressure. Continue to do you, keep winning. But once it go left, it go left.”
Rick Ross Details Drake Fallout
Ross said he is not looking to rebuild the relationship with Drake at this point. He is choosing instead to focus on his own future. Still, he reflected positively on the years they worked together. He described their bond as primarily centered around music and business rather than a traditional friendship. He also denied rumors that he and Meek Mill are involved in any dispute.
The conflict between Ross and Drake began after Ross accused Drake of sending a cease-and-desist notice involving French Montana during the Kendrick Lamar feud. Since then, both artists have addressed the situation publicly. Ross has often balanced criticism with acknowledgment of the success and history they once shared.
