Priyanka Chopra Jonas is spending her time in lockdown learning how to play piano.

The actor and husband Nick Jonas have obviously been spending a ton of time together, and she has started playing piano with his excellent guidance, as she writes in an April 28 essay for Vogue magazine.

“I’ve never played, but I’ve always wanted to learn an instrument, so I make him give me a half-hour or 45-minute lesson every day,” Priyanka says. “He’s an in-house piano teacher, an in-house physical trainer, and an in-house writing partner — it’s good.”

(Nick, if you’d like to go live and give us lessons, too, we’re all ears.)

In all seriousness, Priyanka also details how she received a heads-up about the COVID-19 outbreak in China in January, when she attended the World Economic Forum as part of Global Citizen’s delegation.

“I’m the daughter of a physician, so I spoke to my mom and understood the severity of what it was—and what it could be if it wasn’t handled soon,” she writes. “Now, I think people have begun to realize that the coronavirus affects every single one of us — it makes no differentiations — and the world has to come together to beat it.”

That said, she and Nick — who is at greater risk because he is a Type 1 diabetic — quickly made sure their families were taken care of, explaining to them what the coronavirus was and cutting short their trip to India for the Holi festival amid worries about potentially closed borders.

“I’m so grateful we’re together at this time, and that we weren’t stuck in different parts of the world because we both travel so much,” Priyanka says, noting that she feels blessed not to have worries about food and shelter or the loss of a loved one.

She’s also taken hip-hop dance classes and has been working on a book. “Being in this quarantine has made me realize that some of the stresses we put on ourselves in our normal lives may or may not be important,” she concludes. “It’s good to take a breather, take stock of your life, and tell your loved ones you love them.”
