New Tests Reportedly Show Wendy Williams Does Not Have Dementia

Wendy Williams’ health and legal situation have taken another major turn. According to new reports, recent neurological testing indicates that the former talk show host does not have frontotemporal dementia, a diagnosis that has kept her under a court-appointed guardianship for over a year.

Sources told TMZ that a top neurologist in New York City conducted the new tests and found no evidence of the condition. As a result, Williams’ legal team plans to file new documents within the next two weeks to terminate her guardianship. If the court agrees, attorney Joe Tacopina reportedly plans to demand a jury trial to help restore her independence.

This new medical opinion directly contradicts earlier findings. Back in August, lawyers for Williams’ guardian, Sabrina E. Morrissey, told People that “medical specialists have formed an opinion concerning [Wendy’s] current neurological condition and diagnosis, including whether she has the ability to make decisions.” Those specialists had previously performed multiple tests and brain scans that supported a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia.

Williams has long expressed frustration over her situation. In a March interview with NewsNation, she described her restrictive living conditions, saying, “I don’t have the freedom to do virtually anything… I’m ready to leave. I want my independence back. I want out of this guardianship. It’s suffocating. It’s very lonely.”

Her ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, has also been involved in the ongoing legal drama. He previously filed a $250 million lawsuit seeking control of Williams’ guardianship, alleging that the current arrangement had “become a weapon, not a shield.” However, a judge denied his request in October after Williams stated she was unaware of the lawsuit.

Now, with new medical findings in her favor, Williams and her team appear determined to regain her freedom and challenge the court’s previous decision.
