New Prince Album From 2010 Set to Arrive in July
Legacy Recordings has mined Prince’s music vault, with approval from The Prince Estate, and discovered an unreleased 2010 album titled Welcome 2 America. The 12-track project will be shared with the world on July 30.
At a time when the nation is at another historic crossroad of brazen racism and corruption and defining movements to inspire change, Welcome 2 America is expected to be an embraced body of work.
The official press release notes the previously unreleased album will detail the late phenom’s “concerns, hopes, and visions for a shifting society, presciently foreshadowing an era of political division, disinformation, and a renewed fight for racial justice.â€
The second element in the pending release of Welcome 2 America is a concert film taped in April 2011 at The Forum in Inglewood, California. It will be packaged with the album’s deluxe edition, designed in a luxe gold-foil package.
Welcome 2 America will be available in various listening forms, including digital, vinyl, and CD. Pre-order a version of the LP here.
With the announcement of the album, its title track has been released. It can be streamed below.
Last year September, The Prince Estate and Warner Records reissued Prince’s urgent album Sign O’ The Times. It followed the plethora of reissues and newly shared albums: The Rainbow Children, One Nite Alone, and Originals.
