Titled ‘Frequencies Of Real Creative Energy’ or ‘The FORCE’, the album’s artwork is a rather unassuming one — featuring scribbled frequency waves and words against a black background. On the side, LL can be seen with eyes closed, meditating on his art form and ability, now decades into the game. While the artwork seems low effort, the tracks released so far are far from this observation. Arguably, LL has been able to create music that is evergreen and relevant even now, and the approach shows beautifully in the singles released so far in support of the album.

Sonically, the production has more than a hint of nostalgia, and revolves around the success of the boom bap sound. With a steady drum groove littered with piano riffs on ‘Passion’, LL sets the tone for the album by sticking unapologetically to his roots as an emcee, which certainly has us captivated. Let us wait and see what more he has in store in the time leading up to the album — one can possibly anticipate a couple more singles before the Force turns into an unstoppable momentum for the emcee. Don’t call it a comeback!
