Ever since Kendrick Lamar dropped ‘Not Like Us’, the anticipation of a Grammy has been palpable. What really remained to be seen was exactly what categories the song will sweep and well, we have the answer now.

The song has officially created history by becoming the only rap song ever to win five Grammys. The categories include ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Record of the Year,’ ‘Best Rap Song,’ ‘Best Rap Performance,’ and ‘Best Music Video’. Artists like Jay-Z and Taylor Swift were visibly elated to see the Kendrick win and cheered him and Mustard on as they celebrated an all out sweep. Mustard even jovially mentioned how they need the broom out after this!

Taking to address the audience, Kendrick proceeded to talk about how rap music is the most influential music around, and acknowledged peers he draws his inspiration for. Among others, these names included Ab-Soul, ScHoolboy Q, Daylyt, G Malone, Problem, and Jay Rock. With the latest win in hand, Kendrick is now officially a 22x Grammy Winner.

More than the award though, fans understand what it means for a diss record to achieve all it did in the night. With Taylor Swift and the crowd singing the ‘A Minor’ bar with full gusto, the celebration is probably a bigger statement than the win itself. After all, this moment is not something Drake would appreciate, considering how it may affect the artist’s perception moving forward on a global scale. DJ Hed even tweeted this out to shade the Drake camp a bit more.

While a lot was said about LA, Kendrick dedicated his award to his city and restored its status within the culture — encouraging more competition, collaboration and community building all at once.
