Kem and Toni Braxton are stepping into the new year at the top. “Live Out Your Love,” the buttery duet by the two R&B titans, has claimed the number one spot on the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart for the tracking week of January 2, 2021.

As his seventh chart leader on this chart, Kem becomes the fourth artist to hold the third-place record of the most number-one singles. The love ambassador ties with Charlie Wilson, Maxwell, and another king of R&B.

“Lie to Me,” the lead single lifted from Love Always Wins, topped the Adult R&B Songs chart in June 2020. The album rounded out in the top 20 on Rated R&B’s 30 best R&B albums of 2020 list.

Braxton, who registered the very first number-one single (“Another Sad Love Song”) on the Adult R&B Songs chart in 1993, extends her second-place record for the most number-one singles (10). She previously earned a 2020 chart-topper with “Do It,” the lead single from Spell My Name.

The living legend’s duet “Gotta Move On,” featuring H.E.R. stands at No. 10 this week. It has peaked at No. 8 so far.

Spell My Name was also regarded as one of the 30 best R&B albums of 2020 by Rated R&B.Â
