Kayla Nicole Seemingly Shades Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift With Halloween Costume
Kayla Nicole not only turned heads with her Halloween costume, but she also allegedly threw shade at her ex, Travis Kelce, and Taylor Swift. On Oct.31, the 33-year-old model and sports journalist paid homage to Toni Braxton — specifically, the look from her music video for “He Wasn’t Man Enough For Me.” In a video posted to Nicole’s Instagram, she focused on a particular section of the song and video, where Braxton sings, “What are you thinkin’? (Oh-oh, yeah)/Did you know about us back then? (Did you know?)/Do you know I dumped your husband (Ooh-wee), girlfriend? (Girlfriend).”
Along with rocking the iconic, slinky, shimmery dress that Braxton did, she even busted out a few moves. “She’s an icon… She’s a legend…She’s @tonibraxton circa 2000. #Halloween25,” she wrote in the post’s caption. Her comment section was flooded with celebrities and fans alike, completing her look. Even Toni Braxton offered her stamp of approval, writing, “You killed it, mama! [orange heart emoji].” On the other hand, some people believed the costume choice could have been inspired by more than just paying homage— it could’ve been in response to Taylor’s alleged diss toward Nicole on her new album, The Life Of A Showgirl.
Did Taylor Swift Diss Kayla Nicole?
In the track, “Opalite,” Swift sings, “You were in it for real/She was in her phone/And you were just a pose.” This line seems to refer to a video that circulated when Nicole and Kelce were dating, where he told her to “get off the phone.” The line also plays into the rumors that during their time together, Nicole had been using Kelce to boost her social media popularity.
Since Swift and Kelce began dating, fans of the singer have been allegedly trolling the model. Last month, on an episode of her The Pre-Game Podcast, Nicole revealed how “terrified” she was to look at her comments and DMs. “As someone who obsesses over the fact that I, on a daily basis, am terrified of my comments, terrified of my DMs. I don’t want to be triggered,” she said. Nicole added, “I don’t want to care, I don’t want to look.”
