Kali Uchis Releases New Song ‘Moonlight’
Kali Uchis has shared “Moonlight,” the second single from her upcoming album Red Moon In Venus. It was co-produced by Benny Blanco, Cashmere Cat and Leon Michels.
Returning to her family roots for the new single, Uchis sings between Spanish and English. She sings about getting blazed and gazing into the luminous night sky with a lover who makes her feel alive.
“There’s nothing like peace of mind / And you take the time and make sure that I’m okay / I know it can put stress on your brain / But you always go out your way / To show me that I’m your priority,” Uchis sings.
Red Moon In Venus includes “I Wish you Roses,” which Uchis shared last month as the lead single.
“I Wish you Roses,” co-produced by Josh Crocker and Dylan Wiggins, debuted at No. 17 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs chart. It marked her highest debut on that list.
“I Wish you Roses” also peaked at No. 81 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Red Moon In Venus releases March 3 via Geffen Records. The 15-track album includes appearances by Summer Walker, Omar Apollo and Don Toliver.
Regarding the album, Uchis said, “Love is the message. Red Moon In Venus is a timeless, burning expression of desire, heartbreak, faith, and honesty, reflecting the divine femininity of the moon and Venus.”
“The moon and Venus work together to make key aspects of love and domestic life work well. This body of work represents all levels of love—releasing people with love, drawing love into your life and self-love. It’s believed by many astrologers that the blood moon can send your emotions into a spin, and that’s what I felt represented this body of work best.”
With the songs of Red Moon In Venus in place, Uchis is promoting the album in different spaces. She graces the latest cover of Vogue México y Latinoamérica.
Uchis will support the album on a headlining tour which starts at Moody on April 25 in Austin, Texas. The North American trek will conclude May 30 at Arizona Federal Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona.
Support for the tour comes from rising star RAYE.
Uchis is also scheduled for this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
