A notable chapter in this year’s hip-hop landscape has come to a close. Following an awkward period of public tension, J. Cole and Cam’ron have officially reached a legal settlement regarding the track “Ready ’24,” which appeared on Cole’s mixtape Might Delete Later.

The conflict originated earlier this year when Cam’ron initiated legal action, alleging that he had not received proper financial compensation or royalties for his vocal contributions to the song. Furthermore, Cam’ron claimed that the initial arrangement—which allegedly involved a promised podcast appearance or a reciprocal verse—had failed to materialize, leaving him with only a co-writing credit that he felt was insufficient.

The situation began to thaw when J. Cole made a surprise appearance on Cam’ron’s podcast. The two artists leaned into the absurdity of the situation, even participating in a collaborative skit that addressed the friction head-on. This public reconciliation paved the way for a more formal resolution.

On May 26, representatives for both parties confirmed that an “agreement in principle” had been reached to resolve the litigation. While the specific financial and legal terms of the settlement remain private, both sides are currently in the process of finalizing the necessary documentation to put the matter to rest. With the legal hurdles cleared, the two artists appear to have successfully moved past the dispute.
