David Archuleta's Streets Talkin Live At-Home Performance: Watch
David Archuleta teamed up with Streets Talkin to raise money for Direct Relief with a Streets Talkin Live At-Home concert on Wednesday (April 15).
Before kicking off the performance with his most recent single, “OK, All Right,” the season seven American Idol runner-up explained why he selected the humanitarian aid organization as his charity for the benefit show. “I chose to help Direct Relief,” he explained. “They are helping in all 50 states, but what I liked about Direct Relief is they also do a lot of work in over 80 other countries. And since this is a global pandemic, I thought, ‘OK, that sounds like it could be a nice thing to partner with.'”
During the set, Archuleta also dusted off fan-favorite “Crush” — his 2008 debut solo single that followed his second-place finish on Idol — as well as a brand-new cover of Louis Armstrong‘s 1967 classic “What a Wonderful World.”
“This is a song I’ve always loved,” he said while introducing the hopeful standard. “I think right now as we’re going through all this quarantine, COVID-19, we can get stressed out and wonder what’s gonna happen, how long is this gonna last. But it’s given me time to just take time to look outside a little more since I’ve had the time. I was supposed to be on tour right now, but we had to postpone it and I had to stay home. But when I go and just look outside … I can’t help but think it’s a moment where we can slow down and think of the little things that can keep us going … and that it is a wonderful world.”
