A$AP Rocky’s year might have gotten off to a bad start, but things are turning around. The Harlem native is now Ray-Ban’s first-ever creative director. A$AP Rocky will help with leading brand campaigns, designing, and assisting with store renovations. “For nearly 80 years, the brand has been on the faces of the most iconic musicians, artists, actors and heroes – shaping and re-shaping the status quo, leading cultural revolutions of all the times,” Ray-Ban’s president, Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio said in a press release.

Rocky has always admired and been a supporter of the popular eyewear brand, he says. “I’ve always admired Ray-Ban’s ability to stay true to its roots while constantly evolving. I’m excited to be part of the strong heritage and develop the next chapter for an iconic brand like Ray-Ban,” he said in a press release. His first project, the “Blacked Out Collection,” will offer a redesign of iconic frames featuring gold-plated details and ultra-black lenses. The collection’s release date kicks off in April 2025.

In other news, A$AP Rocky is a free man, and is no longer facing felony assault charges, PEOPLE reports. Rocky was accused of shooting a semi-automatic handgun at A$AP Relli in an altercation in November 2021 and had two charges of felony assault with a semiautomatic firearm dismissed. Rocky’s attorneys argued that the prop was a starter pistol that never held real ammunition.

Before the verdict was announced at Los Angeles’ Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, “each jury member agreed the outcome was their individual true and correct verdict.” After the verdict was ready, Rocky jumped over the stand to Rihanna, his mother, and his sister. “Thank y’all for saving my life. Thank y’all for making the right decision,” Rocky said as he was filled with emotion. The judge also thanked the jury for their time. “We cannot have jury trials without folks like you,” Judge Mark Arnold added.
