In a landmark legal victory, Chance The Rapper has successfully concluded a six-year legal ordeal against his former manager, Pat Corcoran. The resolution of this case marks a pivotal moment for the artist, as the court ruled in his favor regarding claims of breach of fiduciary duty.

According to the judgment, Corcoran is required to forfeit up to $1.5 million in merchandise and merchandise-related compensation, along with additional undisclosed vendor commissions, the exact figures of which are to be finalized by the court. The ruling follows an extensive examination of the case by Cook County Circuit Court Judge James E. Hanlon Jr., who presided over the proceedings.

During the trial, Judge Hanlon Jr. highlighted a concerning pattern in Corcoran’s testimony, noting that the former manager frequently altered his accounts based on his audience. The judge remarked that Corcoran had “a habit of saying whatever the moment requires,” a finding that significantly undermined his credibility throughout the litigation. The court reached its decision after a thorough review of independent witness testimony, documentary evidence, and the account provided by Chance himself.

Reflecting on the conclusion of the high-profile battle, the Grammy-winning artist expressed a sense of relief. “I’m grateful to finally close this chapter of my life and can’t wait to eventually tell my side of the story. I’m thankful to the courts and, more importantly, to God for remaining faithful,” Chance stated in a formal release.
