In a nostalgic nod to 1990s cinema, O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Destin Tucker have stepped into the roles made famous by their fathers, Ice Cube and Chris Tucker. The duo recreated an iconic scene from the cult classic film Friday as part of a new marketing campaign for the Los Angeles Rams titled “Thursday.”

The promotional video, which debuted ahead of the NFL Draft, serves as a rhythmic homage to the original production. Filmed in settings reminiscent of the South Central Los Angeles neighborhood featured in the 1995 movie, the short film successfully captures the comedic timing and relaxed, porch-sitting atmosphere that cemented the original as a staple of urban culture.

The Rams’ creative team designed the campaign to celebrate local Los Angeles culture while building anticipation for the upcoming football season. Beyond the central performances by Jackson Jr. and Tucker, the “Thursday” video features guest appearances from actor Terry Crews and rapper YG, alongside several active members of the Rams roster.

Social media reaction has been overwhelmingly positive, with many fans highlighting the striking physical resemblance between the young actors and their fathers. The video quickly amassed millions of views, with viewers praising the authenticity of the recreation.

While rumors regarding a final sequel to the Friday franchise have persisted for years, this campaign offers fans a unique glimpse into what a modern iteration of the story might look like. The collaboration stands as a love letter to Los Angeles, effectively bridging the gap between the city’s rich cinematic history and its passion for professional football.
