D4vd, the artist known legally as David Burke, was arrested Thursday evening in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas. This development marks a significant shift in a case that has drawn intense public and media scrutiny since last fall.

Law enforcement officials took the 21-year-old musician into custody at his Hollywood residence before booking him into the LAPD 77th Street Station Jail around 10 p.m. Burke is currently being held without bail on suspicion of murder. The arrest follows an extensive investigation initiated after Rivas’ remains were discovered in September inside an impounded vehicle registered to the singer.

According to reports, the teenager had been missing for more than a year prior to the discovery of her body. While the Los Angeles Police Department has officially classified the investigation as a homicide, an official cause of death has not yet been disclosed to the public.

Legal Defense and Ongoing Investigation

In response to the arrest, Burke’s legal team has issued a firm denial of the allegations. Attorneys representing the artist stated, “The actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death.” The defense further noted that no formal indictment has been returned by a grand jury and no criminal complaint has been filed as of Friday morning.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing the evidence provided by law enforcement to determine if there is sufficient cause to file formal charges. The case has been subject to significant speculation since the discovery of the remains in September. In November, LAPD Captain Scot Williams addressed viral rumors, confirming that the body was neither frozen nor decapitated, and clarified that the remains had been in the vehicle for several weeks prior to their discovery.

The investigation has also extended to the singer’s inner circle. Earlier this year, Burke’s parents and brother were ordered to testify before a court, though the family has reportedly contested the subpoenas, citing concerns over due process rights. As the legal process unfolds, Burke’s representatives have maintained that they intend to vigorously defend his innocence.
